Why do you use
imported dogs?
This is a very common question. The dogs we import
have been carefully bred for workability and adaptability from
notable, proven working lines. These dogs are bred for
generations to work. Many domestic lines have been bred
for looks and social skills or show and sport. The
traits necessary in top working dogs can be diluted and
lessened without selective breeding. All dogs receive
complete health screenings prior to being imported and after
arrival here.
Do they know
English commands or only Foreign Language? Why?
The dogs are trained or pre-trained in foreign language
command prior to arrival. They are left in foreign
language for the completion of their training here. This
provides continuity for the dog. Having a dog trained in
foreign languages also makes it more difficult for someone
else to give confusing or counter commands to your dog.
What is
included in the cost?
Included in the cost is the purchase of the dog, handler
training, housing at our facility during handler training, and
a one year guarantee. Please
contact us for more details.
How old are the
dogs?
Most dogs are between the ages of 1 and 3 years.
Which are
better, male or female dogs?
Gender is not a factor in quality performance.
Skill, performance, and compatibility is relative to each
individual dog. Customers who have a personal preference
regarding gender are encouraged to let us know so that we can
find the best possible canine to suit.
Do you train
dogs with synthetic odors or real odors?
Worldwide Canine only uses real odors in the training of
our canines. We never use synthetic or psuedo odor
samples. Synthetic odors do not have the same chemical
composition of real scent samples. When canines
encounter large amounts of explosives or narcotics and are
trained on psuedo scents, it is extremely difficult for them
to locate the source. Numerous court cases support the
fact that dogs must be trained on real odor.
Do you have any
guarantees on your dogs?
Yes, we have a one year 100% replacement guarantee on all
our dogs against the development of genetic health defects, as
well as a one year 100% replacement guarantee on
training. Please contact us
for details.
Can I visit
your facility?
Yes. Please contact us
to schedule an appointment to tour our facility and talk with
our staff. Visitors are most welcome with an
appointment.
Where are you
located?
We are located in Spring Branch, Texas, about 20 miles
north of San Antonio. For address and driving
directions, see the maps and information on our
contact page.
How long does
it take to train a dog?
The time it takes to train a dog varies and is relative to
the individual dog and level of training the dog is receiving.
How many people
can attend a class?
Each class has an attendance of up to 8 people. We
keep each class small enough to allow for maximum use of
facilities and instructors' time by each attendee.
If I buy a
Personal Protection Dog, will
someone come to deliver the dog and show me how to handle the
dog? How much does that cost?
You can have a trainer bring your dog to you and work
with you at your home. You would be responsible for the
cost of flight / travel, hotel for the trainer, and any other
travel expenses. If you choose, you can pick up your
personal protection dog at our facility and train here.
Transportation / travel costs for you and the dog will be your
responsibility.
I have heard
that you need to start with a puppy because an adult dog will
not bond with the family.
An adult dog can bond with a new family. The full
bonding process takes about 2 weeks. Our staff with
instruct you on how to work through this period.
I want to buy a
puppy because the price is much lower. I want to raise
the pup to be my personal protection dog. Is that
possible?
This is possible, but not probable. Few dogs can be
trained for personal protection. The traits and drives
necessary for a personal protection dog are not in every dog
and the dog's upbringing can affect its desire to perform.
Dogs are tested as they reach maturity for proper drives.
Dogs who display proper traits to be a personal protection dog
still need to be sent for professional training; in this case,
at the owner's expense.

costs.
