2.5 lbs Marijuana

I was contacted about a large amount of drugs in the trunk of a 2009 red Dodge Charger, a reliable confidential informant witnessed two subjects place the items in the trunk and overheard a phone conversation between the runners and the owner of the vehicle. The vehicle was parked on private property, I contact the Jackson County Narcotics Unit and we locate the vehicle. No one appears to be home at the residence, we obtain a search warrant for the car and stake out the property for about 7 hours waiting for the owner of the vehicle to come home. Once he arrives home we surround the house and detain him then serve a copy of the search warrant on him. Canine Abi is deployed on the car and without hesitation she goes to work. I can tell once she gets several feet from the vehicle she has picked up an odor, she works it out to the trunk of the car and we locate 2.5 pounds of Marijuana. The owner is charged with Possession of marijuana 1st degree, and trafficking of marijuana

K9 team was called out by the Jackson County Narcotics Unit to assist with a search warrant in Scottsboro, Alabama at a hotel.

I arrived and deployed K9 Abi. She immediately ran to the dresser just inside the door and began scratching and biting trying to open the top drawer. Inside the dresser buried under clothes we located a crown royal bag containing a plastic bag with approximately 3 ounces of marijuana, we continued to search the room and inside the end table between the beds she showed a positive odor response and we located more marijuana and paraphernalia.

Bust

K-9 team was called out to assist in a vehicle search in Bridgeport AL. Abi displays a positive odor response on the trunk, front fender and hood of the vehicle. We locate a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia. We also locate over $5000 in currency.

Upon locating the currency we place it in a clean evidence bag and place sterile gauze in another clean evidence bag; upon giving the command to search She briefly sniffs the bag containing the gauze, and runs over to the bag containing the currency and shows a positive odor response.
