Supreme Court Upholds Dog Sniffs At
Traffic Stops: The
U.S. Supreme Court ruled in January 2005 that police may use
drug-sniffing dogs during routine traffic stops. Illinois
Attorney General Lisa Madigan called the use of canine units
"indispensable" and said the ruling would help reduce drug
trafficking.
