Conducted a canine inspection for a used car dealer here in
Kerrville this morning. The client was suspect of the
previous owner of a vehicle and asked us to run a canine
through it. I deployed K9 Ronny into the truck and he alerted
under the passenger side rear seat. Further inspection
revealed approximately 4 grams of old loose Marihuana under
the carpet at a seat mount site. Once again K9 Ronny was on
the job!
On November 17th, 2011 I was contacted by Louisiana
State Police to conduct a parcel search at Federal Express in
Terrebonne Parish. K-9 REX was used to locate a suspicious
package inside of a large warehouse, the package was among
several hundred other packages set for delivery by Federal
Express. K-9 REX searched the packages and alerted on one of
them. Louisiana State Police narcotics investigators removed
the package and obtained a search warrant for it. The package,
which was being shipped from California to an address in
Terrebonne Parish, was found to contain 2062 grams (4.6
pounds) of high-grade marijuana, which had been vacuum-sealed
and bubble wrapped to avoid detection, the estimated street
value on the marijuana was approximately $45,000.

K9
team was called out by the Jackson County Narcotics Unit to assist
with a search warrant in Scottsboro, Alabama at a hotel.
I arrived
and deployed K9 Abi. She immediately ran to the dresser just
inside the door and began scratching and biting trying to open the
top drawer. Inside the dresser buried under clothes we located a
crown royal bag containing a plastic bag with approximately 3
ounces of marijuana, we continued to search the room and inside
the end table between the beds she showed a positive odor response
and we located more marijuana and paraphernalia.

Got called out
at 2:30am, our Police Department had a bailout… one male, one
female. I arrived at the location about 35 minutes after and
deployed Irk. Tracked for 250 yds into thick brush and
located the male bedded down in the brush. He was wanted for
a blue warrant and possession.
June 2011, DEA San Antonio conducted a traffic stop. Nella was
deployed and gave a positive alert on the passenger door of a
Chevy S-10 pick/up. Further search of the interior of the vehicle
revealed approximately 2 lbs. of Meth in the rear ex/cab of the

…everything is going well. We had a five-day run of nothing but
straight drug interdiction, he worked hard searching a lot of
vehicles, this was his first few days on the street with me. We
were able to seize close to a pound of marijuana, over 100 hits of
LSD, several ecstacy pills, a small amount of powder cocaine, and
lots of paraphernalia. Max is making a great asset to our drug
unit. I have included a picture of one of the finds he made, over
5 oz. of marijuana hidden inside a teddy bear.

interior of the residence was obtained. K-9 "Nella" was deployed
and an interior search was conducted. "Nella" gave a positive
alert on a safe in the computer room. Further investigation of
the interior of the safe revealed approximately 2 lbs of "ICE"
Meth individually packaged for distribution.

Bexar County Sheriffs conducted a traffic stop off HWY 35 N and
asked for a K-9 Unit due to the driver’s story not making any
sense. "Nella" was deployed and alerted to the front end of a
Goose Neck Cattle Trailer. Sheriffs took the trailer to unload 8
head of cattle. Further investigation revealed approximately 200
lbs of Marijuana in a hidden compartment inside the Goose Neck.

On March 29th, 2011 we were in the process of
inspecting a high school campus when a vehicle attempted to
exit from the campus and was subsequently stopped by a police
officer working a guard shack. A campus administrator & I
were dispatched to the area. Upon arrival, consent to search
had been obtained. I presented a backpack from the vehicle to
K9 Ronny and received a positive alert. The backpack
contained 24 individual baggies of suspected marihuana in a
quantity of less than two ounces
We were running Ronny & Knox at a high school/junior high in the
Beaumont area on Friday. Lee & I jointly worked the dogs at the
high school for a ninety minute tour & then left to work the
junior high.
About thirty minutes into the junior high inspection, the high
school called & advised that a student was seen in the parking
lot during our high school inspection. I returned to the high
school & worked Ronny through the section of the parking lot
where the student was seen. I worked Ronny through about thirty
cars before he alerted on the engine compartment of a truck. A
search revealed an ounce and a half of marihuana hidden under
the hood inside the fuse box. Even though we had stretched
Ronny out pretty good on this scenario, he performed top notch.
Baxy was
called out and jumped through the back passenger window and
alerted under the back seats. Search revealed an empty hydraulic
hidden compartment that later turned into over $ 400,000.00 in
cash.
SAPD conducted a traffic stop on the south side of San Antonio
for no registration and no inspection sticker. Subject became
very nervous ... Officers asked for a K-9 search. Nella was
deployed and conducted an olfactory search of the vehicle.
Nella entered the vehicle and immediately jumped to the rear
seat and gave a positive alert on the rear seat. Further
search of the vehicle revealed a black trash bag containing 64
grams of BLACK TAR HEROIN.

SAPD conducted a traffic stop... and called for a K-9 search. K-9
Nella was deployed and conducted an olfactory search of the
vehicle. Nella gave a positive alert on the passenger seat of the
vehicle where a UPS package was recovered... Further search of
the package revealed a motorcycle headlight inside the UPS box.
Further search of the interior of the headlight revealed two
individually wrapped packages suspected of being "Meth". ... both
packages totaled 510 GRAMS of Crystal "Meth"...

On 09-15-10, I conducted a traffic stop on a 1996 Lincoln Town Car
for an equipment violation. The driver seemed to be extremely
nervous and refused consent to search, I performed an exterior
sweep of the vehicle and Ozzy showed a positive alert to the
passenger front door seam. I then deployed him into the interior
of the vehicle and he showed a positive alert on a school bag
backpack. We removed to back pack and it contained a little over a
pound of high-grade marijuana, digital scale, packaging materials,
and $1020 in cash. The driver was a two time convicted narcotics
violator...

Baxy was called to
assist with a stop on I-20 and alerted on the passengers door.
Baxy then jumped through the passengers window and started tearing
the very back seat of the SUV up. 7 Kilos of Cocaine were removed
that was hidden in the back seats.
Nella assisted on a traffic stop on 35
North. Nella alerted on the outside of the rear passenger side
door of a Ford F-250. Vehicle was escorted to local PD where
search revealed 10 packages in a hidden compartment attached to
the rear seat...

Nella searched the exterior of a storage shed and alerted to the
exterior of #204. Search warrant was obtained and approx. 2 lbs
of brown heroin was found inside the storage shed… search
continued at owner’s house where Nella found another 8 oz of
Heroin.

received info on a possible Marijuana Grow. Nella was deployed
and released without a lead a open field before target location.
Nella checked the exterior of the location and went on her own to
the rear of location where she gave positive alert on the rear
door of the location. SAPD was able to obtain a search warrant
for location. Search Warrant revealed Hydroponic Marijuana Grow
containing 249 mature Marijuana Plants.

I just wanted to thank you all for the training I received.
Zoro got his first hit on a call out on 04/29/2010 on a subject
who refused to consent to a search. Zoro alerted on the vehicle
and under 2 ounces of hash was located along with 1.5 grams of
heroin.
Zoro also got a little hydro marijuana on an alert on I-35 on
5/3/2010.
On 1-5-10, Astor and I were called
to suspicious subjects at the truck stop. During the stop, Astor
was deployed on the subject vehicle after several indicators.
After alerting on the vehicle several items were found; including
Methamphetamine, marijuana, Steroids (found in safe next to the
marijuana) and several Rx pills. ...more on Astor.
The Kansas Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on SB I-35 just
south of our city.Based on theTrooper’s observations and questioning, they requested I respond.K9
Sysko alerted to both front wheel wells. We pulled out the
plastic liner around the well to discover two hidden
compartments. We cut out1 inchthick bondo and found 44 bundles of cash,
approximately 440,000 dollars.It was suspected that the driver brought cocaine in those
compartments and they repacked them with the cash to head
back

Jak and I
were requested to respond for a sniff on a car stop
originating with the Sparks Police Dept. This sniff led
to the finding of 51 balloons of heroin, (approximately
14.2 grams), located inside a deodorant container.

and I were requested to respond for a sniff on a car stop by an
officer with Washoe School PD. This sniff led to the finding of
6.7 ounces of marijuana that were located in the trunk of the
vehicle, inside a backpack.
On
11-14-09 during a stop to check out a suspicious vehicle, I
noticed the driver looking at the shoes of the passenger. I
asked the passenger to kick off his shoes and I found a clear
baggie of marijuana in his shoe. Astor was deployed on the
vehicle and located the rest of the marijuana. Rest of the
marijuana was hidden in a child’s diaper bag.

The stop was made by a fellow undercover
officer and Jim alerted twice to the passenger side rear
rocker panel. A search warrant was issued and 24 pounds of
marijuana was found in the back trunk. The subjects had just
removed the marijuana from the gas tank and were taking it
to distribute in the local area.

During a consensual contact (from C.I. info.), three bottles of
marijuana in rubbing alcohol was located. Astor positively alerted
on the bottles, which contained the mixture. Seeds from the
residence were also removed that were going to be used for the
next batch. The total weight of the marijuana came out to 3lbs.
Wichita
County’s new K-9 officer gave his partner, Deputy Josh Brown, the
signal he needed to search a car he stopped early Tuesday morning,
and the search led to two arrests on chemical possession charges,
Sheriff David Duke said.
Kimbo, a
1-year-old Belgian Malinois, has been on the job since September.
Brown stopped
a blue 1997 Mercury on Highway 79 at Goodman Road about 1:30 a.m.
Tuesday. It wasn’t staying in one lane, Duke said...

response indicated the presence of drugs, Duke said...
“That gives us
automatic probable cause to search the vehicle,” he said.
According to
the affidavit, the search revealed a digital scale, plastic bags
with residue, 14 lithium batteries, two gallons of Coleman camp
fuel, two plastic funnels, three plastic buckets, filters, shop
towels, and other items... The other items included
ingredients for making methamphetamine and equipment used in the
process…
...“This is
obviously what this dog was bought for,” he said. When Kimbo made
his public debut Oct. 1, Duke described the K9 officer as a tool
in the fight against drugs in the community. Funds from seizures
in previous cases went toward buying a new dog for Wichita County
following the death of 4-year-old K9 officer Clif in May. The
Wichita County District Attorney’s Office made a donation, and
several others in the community also made contributions...
While on stakeout, I noticed heavy
traffic in and out of a known crack house. I popped customers
leaving which led to a 7:00am drug raid (via legal channels
like warrants and such)... Once the residence was cleared of
the suspect parties, Astor was put to work. I learned a
lot that day about a K-9 working in a residence that has a
heavy volume of drugs in it at all times and how odor sticks
(lingers). Astor will show interest in odor but alert on
source (as you know). During the search of the residence, he
followed odor to some weird places like fans in the VCR and
DVD players. This I found was some good spots for odor to
build in a high drug traffic area.

Deputy Rusty Allen and Miko were asked to assist another agency
who had a suspicious package that was sent through Fed Ex. Miko
alerted on the package even though it was wrapped with several
layers of tape. A search warrant was issued for the package and
when it was opened officers located approximately 3 ounces of
methamphetamine that was wrapped in numerous layers of plastic
wrap and tape. The meth was concealed inside of different
electrical components and they too were wrapped in tape.
During a traffic stop for no front License plate, I smelled a
strong odor of Curve cologne (as if masking other odors). Astor
was deployed and alerted on the trunk of the vehicle. Once the
trunk was opened, a surprise was found behind the speaker box in
the trunk. Astor jumped all over in the trunk and got in and then
sat half in and half out of the vehicle (Passive Alert) it was
funny looking, but, hey he gets the job done!

on this package even though it was wrapped in several layers of
stuff. The first layer was mustard followed by grease, powdered
laundry soap. In between each layer of stuff was a layer of
plastic. The total weight of the weed was 9.9 lbs. ... seeing
him find that through all those counter measures was

7-30-09 a subject attempted to flee from Officers in a truck.
When Officers closed in, he jumped from the vehicle and ran into
a heavily wooded area. K-9 Astor was deployed and
convinced the subject to surrender after an hour long run
through the woods. Once he was captured, he told Officers that
the dog stayed so close on him that he was scared to stop and
give up for fear of a bite. Sgt. Walton took the subject into
custody without a need for a bite from Astor... Texas

drug charges after receiving an anonymous tip.

Bar arrived at the same time another dog (Aztek) did and alerted on a
suitcase containing $1,299,910.00 inside of it.
Both dogs arrived at around the same time and both alerted so they are splitting the
credit.
On 6-5-09 at about
10:20pm, IPD K-9 unit stopped an RV camper for a license plate
violation. During the stop the K-9 (Astor) was deployed and he
alerted on the generator area of the vehicle, at which time IPD
noticed a magnetic box containing marijuana. GO ASTOR!!!

Sgt. Ted Walton noticed a guy fail
to signal while entering a roadway. He activated his lights and
siren and chased him for about 1 mile. When the suspect stopped,
Walton pulled him from the vehicle and ran the Itasca K-9 Astor.
Astor alerted quickly on the passenger door. When Walton opened
the door, Astor jumped in the truck and spun around on the center
of the driver's seat console before sitting on it. The pipes and a
small amount of weed were found in the center console. It wasn't
big but it was another hit for Astor!!

Just wanted
to let everyone know that we are just about done with the
school year, and Nela has done a great job since we started
working together last May. Since that time, she has done 150
drug sniffs throughout the school district, resulting in over
20 narcotic arrests, one of those being a teacher. She also
assisted our Patrol Division with a car stop last week that
resulted in 78 grams of crystal meth, 100 hydrocodone tables,
20 grams of marijuana, and $13,000 in cash seized. She later
responded to the subject's residence for a search warrant,
where an additional 1/2 pound of marijuana was seized.
Overall, she has done awesome for her first year of working!
...Cir is working out good down here. On his second
day on the street, he got a quarter pound of hydro marijuana out
of a vehicle on a traffic stop...
Deputy made a
traffic stop on suspect vehicle for a traffic offense. Upon making
contact with the owner/operator, he detected a strong odor of
marijuana emitting from the interior of the vehicle. The deputy
requested consent to search the vehicle, which the operator
quickly denied. The deputy requested Cir to the scene for canine
deployment. I deployed Cir on the exterior of the closed vehicle.
He alerted on the back passenger door after running the seams.
Subsequent search of the vehicles interior produced a quarter
pound of hydro marijuana in a gallon sized zip loc bag from the
vehicles back seat fold down seats area. Smaller "nickel" sized
bags of marijuana were located in the vehicles center console and
front floor board.
He's working
out really well and we have already had two other seizures and
probably 8 narcotics deployments and several patrol for tracks and
building searches. We had a seizure of 30 grams of cocaine which I
wasn't able to get pictures of from a vehicle and one with a
quarter ounce of marijuana from a vehicle. Anyways, thanks for a
great dog.

yet! This investigation yielded one and a half pounds of Crack
Cocaine, and a smaller amount of Marijuana. In addition to items
of paraphernalia, also seized was $5000.00 in cash and eight

Nando got
his first tracking apprehension at approx. 0400 hours this
morning. After I lost sight of a male subject that had ran from
me in a short foot pursuit and after several officers had
canvassed the area, I placed Nando at the suspects initial
location and sent him on his way. Nando tracked through all of
our scents and led me straight to the suspect that was lying under
a truck approx. half a block away. The suspect was intoxicated.
He was arrested and I later seized a small baggy of Marijuana from
his right short pocket. Yeah Nando!!!!

Bar did two
houses this weekend.
When he ran
on the first one, he attempted to climb under the bed to get to
the stuff before alerting. When this apartment was searched,
the gang unit detectives located 407.6 grams of cocaine.
When he was
used on the second house (consent search), he walked over to the
pantry and quickly alerted on the door. When this pantry was
searched, 681.6 grams of cocaine was located along with 3 digital
scales, a kilo press, and other narcotics related items.
Bar got 2.4
pounds of cocaine and 13.3 pounds of marijuana out of a residence
the other day. We were told by the suspect that he had some
cocaine and marijuana in his safe. His girlfriend allowed us into
the residence on a knock and talk. During the course of this
knock and talk I asked her if she would mind if I bring in the dog
to make it quick and she told me we could. When I attempted to
have Bar run on the safe in the closet (the known) he said hell no
and went to the other side of the closet and knocked over a
laundry basket. Bar then started to aggressively alert on these
clothes until a Kilo of cocaine popped out on the floor. Bar was
so aggressive on this find I had to quickly reach down and grab it
before he tore it apart. In addition to this kilo we also found
some more cocaine and marijuana in the safe.
"...Drug Raid yesterday in Conroe... I took Nina
inside... a two story 3000 sq ft home. Nina alerted to a red tool box in one of the
upstairs bedrooms... we discovered 5 grams of black tar
Heroin with scales."

Well Nella did it
again! Cold Find... Suspect vehicle at an apartment complex
known for narcotic activity. Nella entered the vehicle and
alerted between the driver seat and the center consol... 42
grams of marijuana and 2 grams of meth were found.

Here are some pictures of my dog's drug find last night... When my
dog alerted on the exterior of the car and tried to jump through
the driver's window, that got us into the vehicle. K-9 Aram then
alerted on this can and literally picked it up with his mouth. As
you can see the can had a secret compartment. Inside the can was
right at 2 grams of crack cocaine. Upon searching the rest of the
interior of the car, I recovered a loaded 9mm pistol under the
passenger seat. Needless to say the driver of the car was pissed.

...a random check of cars at the high school. Nina made an alert
to the passenger side of a vehicle. Searched the vehicle and
discovered 4 Marijuana roaches and Marijuana particles within the
car. Also located in the car was one metal blue cylinder in the
passenger side of the car. When opening the cylinder I saw two
plastic baggies one inch by one inch. The baggies had pink panther
printed on them. I viewed some white residue in both baggies,
...the suspect admitted that it contained "ICE" at one time. Also
a knife and a CO2 pistol was located in the car. The roaches
weighed 0.6 grams.

174.5 lbs of marijuana in 160 individually wrapped bundles."
At 0130 hours I made a traffic
stop on a 2004 Ford Excursion for a speeding violation. Upon
further investigation, amongst other tale tell signs like three
cellular phones in the console, two men traveling with no luggage,
traveling with windows open when it's 25 degrees, stating they
needed gas when the gauge showed 3/4 full and the lack of interest
in making eye contact while I asked questions, I became even more
suspicious. This suspicion was enriched 100% when I ran
warrants on the two men and received an NCIC hit on the passenger.
Why would a warrant make me more suspicious? Because the
charge was for possession of Marijuana in excess of 50 pounds.
None the less, my back-up arrived and we placed the passenger in
custody. As he turned around to place his hands behind his
back he discarded his energy supplement, which was about a gram of
cocaine. When I began speaking to the driver, he became very
nervous and his body language was obviously telling me it did not
agree with what his mouth was saying. …he granted permission
for me to search through an empty vehicle that he had only owned
for five months. A hand search revealed virtually nothing
although there was exception to the visual inaccuracies of missing
interior parts, loose moldings and headliner, etc... But the big
area of interest to me was the flashy and shiny scaring inside the
hex screws that were attached to the floor in the back over the
location of where the gas tank would be. Well, after nothing
by hand, I asked the driver to stand "over there and be very
still". That's when he saw me going to the car and said,
"Oh, you got a dog?" Of course! I retrieved Primus and
asked Primus to tell me where the dope is. Upon command, we
ran the exterior of the car and nothing. By the way Rob, it
was "hit and get" we did not lolly-gag. We then entered the
rear of the vehicle and Primus immediately turned around and hit
the right floor and molding panel where the jack would normally be
stored. I had searched this area very well and knew there
was nothing there or hidden close by, so I pulled Primus out and
ran the remaining interior. I then put Primus in one more
time and he did the same thing. Now I decided that Rob
is probably right when he says "Don't doubt the dog!” Now I
began a more thorough hand search and visual inspection of the gas
tank underneath the vehicle. Still nothing out of the
ordinary. I called in reinforcements to include the rest of
my shift and the Drug Task Force explaining my precursors to them.
We all searched diligently and still nothing. Just as we
were about to give in despite the valid signals we had discovered,
I asked my state police buddy if they still had a scope. He
said, "It's at the office." I asked to go get it cause I
just got to know. Well upon inserting the scope into the
tank, we observed PACKAGES! Now we took the vehicle and
driver to the "shop." ...
… Anyway, the pictures tell the
rest of the story. The total seizure resulted in 174.5
lbs of marijuana in 160 individually wrapped bundles.
Again I thank you for training and introducing me to a
multi-purpose K-9 that is truly amazing!!!
This week Kilo was asked to
assist DPS with a traffic stop. Kilo alerted on the vehicle
question. Upon search we located a few pounds of marijauna
including a number of plants as tall as Kilo.
Kilo is doing a great job and is loved by the whole department.
Hopefully this is just the beginning.

day we got called to a probation search where a foot pursuit
had taken place. Searched the house and got an alert on
and empty safe. Took Maya in the backyard and she went
nuts on the west fence. I told deputies to look in that
yard. The picture is not that good, but they located
bags of Marijuana, a sawed off shotgun, stolen loaded .45,
more bags of Marijuana, and a cigar box full of ecstasy, and
Cocaine. Not a bad first search."

At 4:00
today Primus found 99 pounds of marijuana in a Ford Explorer.
The dope was concealed in a portable air compressor and the inside
of a welder. Apparently, the welder guts were removed and
the dope was in the shell and the compressor cap was torched off
and dope packed in the compressor with the cap screwed back on and
the cover to the motor on top of the cap.

"...we helped DPS... Akbar alerted on the
trunk of an '86 Lincoln Towncar, we located a new DVD and speaker
box and turned it over and saw that the suspect had duct taped the
bottom seam... we located 1 pound of Marijuana and 1/2 a pound of
Crack Cocaine.
...he had the dope baggied in shrink
wrap, a layer of duct tape, a thick layer of mustard and another
layer of duct tape. The suspect also had a large box of
sausage and a roll of sausage thinking Akbar might have been
hungry... what a *(unwise individual) ...anyway the guy ran
and Akbar caught him by the *(privates) and held him... he is one
*(heck) of a dog and my boss is very pleased."

Just a quick note
on Max.
He is working very
well and being used daily. 1st day located 9gms crack in a false
bottom cheetos container. And DEA used his alert to seize a VW Bug
with a compartment. He has located 15lbs marijuana on the 7th and
alerted on two different cash seizures in the week and half he has
been out.
Seems that daily he
is running something for someone.
Terry is pleased with how everything is going also.

K-9 Officer and Partner Nik Make Drug Arrest
A routine traffic stop by a Winnfield police officer
netted a find of illegal drugs on February 11 and arrested two on
drug charges...
Police officer Craig Vines, who is also the k-9 Officer of the WPD,
stopped a car ... after observing the vehicle run a red light.
During the initial investigative stop, Officer Vines detected a
strong odor of marijuana. When the driver consented to a
search of the vehicle, Officer Vines enlisted the aid of his K-9
partner Nik in determining whether there was indeed drugs present
in the vehicle.
After Nik alerted, Officer Vines searched the entire vehicle and
found several bags of marijuana packaged for sale. He
arrested the driver... on charges of possession of marijuana with
the intent to distribute and disobeying a red light. The
passenger.. was charged with possession...
Chief Phelps commended his officer and the dog and said the
addition of the K-9 to this department is a great tool in the war
against drugs.
"Nik is a dual-purpose dog," said the public relations officer.
"He is trained to attack to save an officer's life as well as to
detect drugs."
"SHERLOCK"
Sacramento County SD
"... we got called to a search
warrant. Ran two other dogs and Sherlock. He had two
alerts. Alerted on a safe within a safe and a cabinet with a
safe inside it. 4 ˝ ounces of crystal in the cabinet safe and a
Meth pipe in the other safe. There were 7 people detained
and a dog taken out of the apartment. Saw no hesitation. But
here’s the kicker. The other two dogs shut down in the master
bedroom where the dope was. Sherlock was fine."
K9
team was called out by the Jackson County Narcotics Unit to assist
with a search warrant in Scottsboro, Alabama at a hotel.
